History

The Chaukhandi tombs form an early Islamic cemetery situated 29 km (18 mi) east of Karachi, Sindh province of Pakistan. The tombs are notable for their elaborate sandstone carvings.The tombs are similar in style to the elaborate tombs at the Makli Necropolis near Thatta, and are built in the funerary architectural style typical of lower Sindh.

Traversing over a range of generally two square miles, the Chaukhandi Tombs, is an Islamic memorial park arranged East of Karachi close the Landhi Town in Pakistan. Built amid the Mughal Run the show at some point between the 15th and 18th century, it is the family burial ground of the Jokhio and Baluch tribes. The cemetery is built in normal Sindh engineering frame and is momentous due to its one-of-a-kind North-South introduction. A few of the more expand graves within the cemetery are made from buff colored sandstone with carved enhancements, uncovering a master level of craftsmanship in its construction. The tombs are built on raised stages in a triangular frame with embellishing stone pieces secured in help with human and metaphorical designs normal sarcophagus has six vertical chunks with two long pieces on each side which demonstrate the length of the body. These six vertical chunks are advance secured by a moment sarcophagus, but of a littler measure, giving it the shape of a pyramid.
